PM, parliamentarians pay tributes to Rajagopalachari

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha P J Kurien and Chairman of BJP Parliamentary Party L K Advani led the parliamentarians in paying the tributes.

Among other dignitaries who paid tributes at the portrait of Rajagopalachari in the Central Hall of Parliament House were several Union Ministers and former MPs.

Popularly knows as Rajaji, Rajagopalachari was also the last Governor General of India.

A booklet containing the profile of Rajagopalachari, brought out in Hindi and English by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, was presented to the dignitaries who attended the function.

 

The portrait of Rajagopalachari was unveiled by the then President of India, Dr N Sanjiva Reddy, in the Central Hall of Parliament House on August 21, 1978.
