PM pays rich tributes to Indiresan

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has today paid rich tributes to eminent educationist P V Indiresan who died in Pune, describing him as an "admired teacher and an exceptional human being".

In his condolence message to Jaya Indiresan, Singh said "his contributions to higher technical education and policy issues related to innovation and education, in the country were invaluable".

Indiresan was a former director of IIT-Madras and Padma Bhushan awardee.

Singh said that during his long and illustrious career, especially during the period of working at the IITs, Indiresan had served the nation with great distinction.

"His passing away has left a void that would be very difficult to fill," the Prime Minister said.
 

Indiresan died in Pune on Sunday at the age of 85.
