Prime Minister Narendra Modi today ordered rushing a two-member team to Arunachal Pradesh for an on-the-spot-assessment of damage caused by the recent landslide in Tawang district.

The team comprises a Senior Advisor in the Niti Aayog and a Joint Secretary from the Ministry of Home Affairs, a PMO statement said here.

The Prime Minister has directed the team to make an assessment of the nature of relief and compensation package required, after holding discussions with the state and district officials and submit a report, the statement said.

The landslide hit Tawang on April 22, killing at least 16 people and wounding many.

The Prime Minister has already sanctioned ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of those killed and Rs 50,000 each to those seriously injured in the landslide.
