PM's silence on CMs hooting amounts to his consent: Amarinder

Congress deputy leader in Lok Sabha Amarinder Singh today questioned Prime Minister for keeping mum on the issue of chief ministers of Haryana and Jharkhand being "hooted" in his presence saying his silence amounts to consent.

"His silence amounts to consent. What if the Prime Minister is also hooted and jeered at in a similar way? He must remember that he has more opponents across the country than supporters," said Singh.

He alleged that earlier also, Modi had practised this trick on some of his own party leaders whom he did not like.

Lashing out at the BJP for 'defending and justifying' the shameful and disgusting incidents, the Deputy Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha said that instead of asking its workers to behave the party has tried to put the blame on the Chief Ministers asking them to introspect.

"...This is a clear indication from the BJP to their cadres that they were not doing anything wrong."

He said the Prime Minister should not only have objected to it, but condemned it and asked his supporters to behave.

"Instead he preferred to keep quiet probably deriving sadistic pleasure in the humiliation of the elected heads of different states," he said.
