Taking cognizance of news reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sanctioned Rs 3 lakh from PM National Relief Fund for treatment of social activist Doris Francis who is suffering from cancer and is admitted to AIIMS.
The PMO said the sanction was granted after it took cognizance of a news regarding services rendered by Francis and her sickness due to cancer.
"Doris Francis is undergoing treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi. The hospital authorities have been requested to provide utmost care to the patient," the PMO said in a statement.

Francis, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad district on the outskirts of Delhi, is well known for rendering voluntary services to manage traffic at a busy intersection on a National Highway.

Meanwhile, help continued to pour in for Doris, with the Delhi Police donating Rs 2.49 lakh for her treatment.
An amount of Rs 2.49 lakh was collected by east district police personnel and DCP (East) Rishi Pal handed over the cheque to her husband Victor Francis.
Doris was working as a traffic volunteer at Khoda Intersection NH24 and was also a member of Hindu Muslim Sikh Isai Ekta Committee, said Pal.
