PM should introspect on reasons for media criticism: BJP

BJP General Secretary and spokesperson J P Nadda said the Prime Minister as well as the Congress have for long been engaged in putting all the blame on the Opposition for all "negative events" and have also wrongly accused social activists and constitutional bodies.

"And now by criticising the media, the Prime Minister has crossed all limits. His comments are unfortunate, objectionable and condemnable. BJP condemns this statement of the PM. The time is ripe that the Prime Minister himself should go for self-introspection on why he is being criticised and his steps being questioned," Nadda said.

BJP maintained that the government and Congress should actually introspect on the reasons for their growing criticism.

"Corruption has grown, proliferated and prospered under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh," Nadda alleged.

Raking up the coal allocation issue, the BJP said the inter-ministerial group and CBI inquiry into the case is an "eyewash".

"The CBI is capable of conducting an inquiry but it is under the Prime Minister and hence is incapable of doing a fair probe. Hence the Prime Minister should resign immediately," Nadda said.

Reiterating its demand for a SIT probe under the supervision of the Supreme Court, BJP rued that CBI is only inquiring into the procedural issues and not the policy aspect.

The party demanded cancellation of 142 blocks and a fair probe from whichever period the government wishes.
