"India's relations with Mozambique are founded on our common struggle and collaboration against colonialism and our partnership for socio-economic development of Mozambique," Singh said in his message to President Armando Emilio Guebuza.
The Prime Minister had sent Commerce Minister Anand Sharma as his special envoy for the events planned to mark the 50 years of Frelimo.
Sharma, who met Guebuza in Mozambique's capital Maputo, also handed him a letter from Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
"History bears testimony to the remarkable bond between our
people in a righteous struggle for freedom and a life of dignity," Gandhi said in her letter.
