PM to hand over apartments built under JNNRUM in Chandigarh

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will visit the city on September 14 to hand over keys of 8,448 apartments built under slum rehabilitation scheme of JNNURM.

On September 14, the Prime Minister will fly by a chopper to Sarangpur on the outskirts of the city, a government spokesman said.

Punjab governor Shivraj Patil today visited Dhanas village and Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) Complex at Sarangpur along with senior officers to review preparations for the Prime Minister's visit, he said.

Patil inspected the dispensary, school and police post to provide facilities of health, education and security to around 50,000 people who would be residing in the complex, the spokesman said, adding that in the IRB Complex at Sarangpur, the Governor inspected the site of a helipad, 68 porta cabins and kitchen.
