Kochi, considered the commercial capital of Kerala, is the only non-metro city in the country to have the Metro Rail.
The Union cabinet had in July this year given the go ahead to the first phase of the fully elevated link covering 25.612 km from Aluva to Petta with 22 stations.
The Kochi Metro Rail Ltd was also looking into the possibility of linking boat service with Metro rail project in line with the National Transportation policy which suggests integration of various modules of transportation.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation was the project partner of the Kochi Metro.
The Prime Minister will also be inaugurating the golden jubilee celebrations of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists tomorrow.
