PM to lay foundation of Cancer institute in Haryana tomorrow

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will lay the foundation stone of two key projects, the National Cancer Institute and the Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership, in Haryana's Jhajjar district tomorrow.

While the Cancer institute will come up at village Bhadsa in Jhajjar district, the global nuclear centre will come up at village Jassaur Khedi near Bahadurgarh.

Congress MP from Rohtak Deepender Singh Hooda said it was a matter of pride for Haryana to have the two projects of national importance set up in the state. Haryana goes to polls late next year.

The 710-bed Cancer Institute at Bhadsa will cost about Rs 2,035 crore in the first phase and will be ready in a period of 45 months, which will work under the aegis of AIIMS, Delhi.
 

The Cancer Hospital of AIIMS will also be shifted at the site later, he said.

Hooda said the foundation stone of Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership will also be laid tomorrow, which will be the first Global University dedicated to nuclear science, where there will be a nuclear research centre of international importance.

He claimed that five countries - US, UK, Russia, France and India will be participating in it and the Centre will be constructed in an area of about 225 acre and will cost about Rs 800 crore. Under this Centre, five colleges related with nuclear science research will be established, he said.

Hooda also disclosed that the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of four-lane Bahadurgarh-Gurgaon highway, besides also laying the foundation stone of a government girls college in village Jassaur Khedi.

He said the Primer Minster will also be laying the foundation stone of the Nuclear Power Plant at Gorakhpur in Fatehabad district of Haryana during this month itself. The 2800 MW Nuclear Power Plant will cost about Rs 22,000 crore.
