Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on September 11 undertake his first visit to Uttarakhand since assuming the top post last year.

His visit is primarily intended to meet Swami Dayanand Giri who has been indisposed for some time.

The Prime Minister will spend some time with Swami Dayanand Giri at his ashram in Sheeshamjhadi area of Rishikesh and leave for Chandigarh the same day, official sources said here today.

Modi personally knows Swami Dayanand Giri and would pay him a visit as the latter is not keeping well for some time now, they said.

This would be Modi's first visit to Uttarakhand after assuming Prime Minister's office. He had last visited the state while campaigning for 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
