PM wants China-like hegemony for India in manufacturing: Geete

Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Anant Geete said here today that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants India to be dominant in the manufacturing sector like China.

"Prime Minister's 'Make in India' slogan is meant to appeal to investors across the world to come and invest in India. Prime Minister Modi wants to make India a manufacturing hub. If we go to any country of this world, feel that China is dominates the manufacturing sector. Our Prime Minister wants our country to have global dominance in manufacturing like China," he said, taking at a seminar organised by Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) here.
 

"Therefore he (Modi) invited foreign investors and domestic investors to manufacture things, so that if we go to any country of this world, we can see 'Made in India' everywhere. The target of 'Make In India is to achive Made In India," he said.

Geete also urged industries to come forward and make use of the Capital Goods Scheme notified by the Department of Heavy Industries (DHI).

"Schemes and programmes have also been formulated by various ministries which include a scheme of Rs 930 crore for the capital goods sector," he said.

"This is just the beginning since we have completed one year. In four years, I assure you that the government will take every possible step to make our domestic industries sustainable in the competition with foreign industries," he said.

"There is no shoratge of capital in the country. We have capital. Fortunately, the country has got a leader like Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister, who knows how to use capital in a proper way," he said.
