PMK founder leader S Ramadoss, hospitalised here since his release on bail last week after 12-day imprisonment, would undergo a heart surgery tomorrow, the party said.

A team of doctors at the corporate hospital here where he was admitted on May 11 decided to perform the surgery, a PMK release said today.

Ramadoss was arrested on April 30 for trying to stage a protest at Villupuram, defying ban seeking arrest of culprits behind the April 25 Marakkanam violence.

He was admitted to the hospital as he complained of breathlessness after being released from Tiruchirappalli central prison.

The violence was aimed allegedly at Dalits, and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had blamed PMK for the incident. But the PMK has denied its involvement.

Ramadoss, in his 70s, was arrested in connection with four other cases also but granted bail in all. His arrest sparked widespread violence in several parts of the state, leading to detention of large number of partymen including several under the stringent Goondas Act and National Security Act.
