: PMK today demanded that all future elections be conducted through ballot paper, instead of EVMs, as being practiced in many countries.

Blaming tampering and large-scale irregularities in EVMS for the 'landslide victory' of ruling AIADMK in the last Lok Sabha Polls, PMK President G K Mani told reporters his party would stage demonstrations in front of Collectorates across Tamil Nadu on July 22, demanding use of ballot papers.

Alleging that industrial and agricultural growth in Tamil Nadu were witnessing a decline compared to states like Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra, he charged the government with failed to take steps to start new industries in the State, due to which employment opportunities were also affected.

Mani welcomed the National Crop Insurance Scheme and wanted the Government to create awareness among farmers about it.

On the Mullaperiyar issue, he blamed Kerala for creating problem for Tamil Nadu and said that State should abide by the Supreme Court verdict on the matter and maintain cordial relations with Tamil Nadu.
