NDA constituent PMK today slammed the Centre for re-promulgating the land ordinance, with party founder S Ramadoss alleging that the government "proves its loyalty to corporates."
Ramadoss said that this was the "first time" in the country that an ordinance was being promulgated twice, "for a purpose which hits the farmers and this is condemnable."
He recalled that the bill to replace the first ordinance could not be passed in the Rajya Sabha and that he had wanted the Centre not to pursue with it further and this also was the "aspirations" of the people.

The NDA government will not be able to pass the bill in the Rajya Sabha as it lacked majority and it could be done only by calling for a joint sitting of both the Houses of Parliament, he said, adding the Centre should think whether "it is right to use the rarest of rare provision to pass a bill which aims to crush the farmers."
"The ordinance which will hit the country's foodgrain production must be withdrawn immediately or allowed to lapse on its own," he said in a statement.
The land acquisition ordinance, which the government could not get converted into a legislation in Rajya Sabha due to stiff opposition, was re-promulgated yesterday, a day before it was to lapse.
