PMK today said it would hold a protest demonstration on May 27 to urge the State and Central governments to expedite the Tindivanam-Krishnagiri National Highway expansion project which connects Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karnataka.

The PMK would hold protest in 16 locations across the 170-km highway stretch between Tindivanam and Krishnagiri, party chief S Ramadoss said here in a statement.

The project envisages expansion of the highway from Puducherry to Krishnagiri from seven to ten meters. Though the expansion work between Puducherry and Tindivanam was completed, the 170-km stretch from Tindivanam to Krishnagiri was still on since 2010, he said.

He accused the ruling AIADMK and the National Highways Authority of India for the alleged delay.

"The indifference of Central and State governments in the expansion project of the important highway which connects Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karnataka is strongly condemnable," he alleged.

"In Tindivanam I will lead the protest," he said adding other senior party functionaries would lead protest in towns including Krishnagiri and Tiruvannamalai.
