PML-N lawmaker abducted in Pak, Rs 5 crore ransom demanded

A PML-N member of Pakistan's Punjab Assembly was today kidnapped by unidentified gunmen who have demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore.

Rana Jameel Hasan was on his way to Islamabad along with his family members when he was abducted near Pindi Bhattian area in central Punjab, Dawn reported.

Police have launched an investigation into the abduction of the ruling PML-N leader who was elected to the Punjab Assembly last year.

The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore for Hasan's recovery.

They have also threatened his family with serious consequences in case the payment is not made in two days' time.
 

It was not clear who was behind the kidnapping of Hasan who did not have a security detail at the time of abduction.
