A local court here today sent Vinod Bhandari, chairman of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAIMS), to police remand till February 3 for his alleged involvement in the Pre-Medical Test (PMT) scam.

The PMT exam was conducted by MP Professional Examinations Board (MPPEB), in which the MP Special Task Force (STF) has already arrested a number of people, including SAIMS General Manager Pradeep Raghuwanshi, STF sources said.

Bhandari was arrested by the STF last night when he appeared in their office for completing his bail formalities in a case related to pre-PG scam. Bail had been granted to him in that case by the high court.

However, the STF arrested him for his alleged involvement in the PMT scam, they said.

Bhandari was arrested based on Raghuwanshi's revelations to the STF that he had paid Rs 50 lakh to MPPEB's Chief System Analyst Nitin Mahindra for selecting six applicants on behalf of SAIMS Chairman.

STF produced Bhandari in a local court and requested for his police remand which the court has granted till February 3, they added.
