Poacher awarded seven years imprisonment

A court here has sentenced a person to seven years rigorous imprisonment for rhino poaching in Kaziranga National Park.

The Additional District and Session Judge (Fast Track Court), Golaghat, A Ahmed yesterday convicted Sukhdeo Kutumb and slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 on him.

Kutumb was involved in poaching of rhinos on November 2, 2013 at a place under Moamari camp of Agratoli range in Kaziranga National Park.

The same day there was an encounter between forest personnel and poachers near Mohapara camp there.

Kutumb had managed to escape but was arrested three years later from Gogamukh in Dhemaji district.
