One person was arrested and a country
made gun besides a bag containing carcasses of a four-month-old fawn and rabbit recovered from his possession, Forest Department officials today said.
Forest officials heard the sound of a gun going off while patrolling the Puliamkombai forest area in Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve yesterday and when they rushed to the spot,they found two persons with a country made gun engaged in poaching animals.
While one person escaped, 45-year-old Periyasamy of Puliamkombai was taken into custody, Rajkumar, District Forest Officer, Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, said.
A case has been registered against him for poaching the animals, he added.
