A poacher has been arrested from Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) in Bihar's West Champaran district, a forest official said today.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of some poachers in Madanpur forest range last night, the forest guards carried out search in Kanti sub-forest area and nabbed a poacher, identified as Chhote Lal Mushar. He hails from Uttar Pradesh's Kushi Nagar district," Madanpur Forest Ranger Sadan Kumar said.

A net used for catching wild animals was seized from Mushar's possession, he said.

The poacher has been booked under provisions of Wildlife Protection Act and sent to jail, the forest official said, adding Mushar's other associates managed to flee from the spot.
