Poachers cut horn of a rhino after killing it

A male rhinoceros was today killed by poachers and its horn taken away by them in Kaziranga National Park (KNP).

The incident took place at the Burapahar range of the KNP early this morning, KNP officials said, adding, six empty cartridges were recovered from the spot.

After killing the pachyderm, the poachers cut and took away it's horn, they said.

In 2014, a total of 28 rhinoceros were killed by poachers.
