Self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, lodged in jail in a case of sexual assault of a minor girl, today termed the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act as "a draconian law".
"People are so much harassed and tormented by this law and it is being widely misused," he told reporters while being taken back to jail after his production in a court.
If this law did not spare me from harassment, just forget thinking about a common man," he added.
Asaram claimed that BJP MP Subramanian Swamy had once told that had he been a jurist, he would have struck down this act long ago.
Asaram was arrested in September 2013 from his ashram on the charge of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.
