POCSO court awards 7-year RI in rape case

A special POCSO court here on Monday awarded seven years rigorous imprisonment in a rape of a minor in 2017 in Bihars Jehanabad district.

Additional district and sessions judge(I)-cum-special POCSO court judge Dharmendra Kumar Jaiswal held Pikku Kumar guilty of the crime and awarded him seven years of rigorous imprisonment each under section 376 of IPC (punishment of rape) and section 4 of POCSO Act.

Both imprisonment sentences will run concurrently.

The court also slapped fine of Rs 20,000 each under the two sections failing which he would undergo an additional year of imprisonment, special public prosecutor of POCSO court, Mukesh Nandan Verma said.

 

As per the FIR, the convict had entered the house of the victim's maternal grandmother when no family member was present and raped her on July 10, 2017.
