Poet Shankha Ghosh conferred with honorary doctorate degree

Eminent Bengali poet Shankha Ghosh was today honoured with an honorary doctorate by the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST).

At its first convocation after being upgraded from the Bengal Engineering Science and University (BESU) to IIEST status, the D Litt degree (honoris causa) was conferred upon him in recognition of his contribution to literature.

Ghosh, a well-known Bengali poet, academician and critic, has written works like 'Murkho Baro', 'Samajik Nyay', 'Chapa Srsti Karuna' among others.

He had won the Sahitya Academy Award in 1977.
