Over 500 refugees, led by General Secretary of PoK Refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971, took out the protest rally from Bikram Chowk to Press Club for their long pending demands.
"Despite living in Jammu and Kashmir for past 60 years, we have not been permanently rehabilitated in the state. We are being discriminated against," Singh alleged.
"Our two generations have lived in inhuman conditions and children have remained illiterate, jobless and landless," he claimed.
Despite several protests, the government has failed to address their problems, he accused while demanding the community be "permanently rehabilitated."
"Special packages on education, employment and political front should be granted to the community which now comprises 15 per cent of the total population of Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
Over 4 lakh refugees of Chammb, Deva, Watala, Manawar, Nah, Bhimber, Mirpur, Kotli, Baagh, Poonch and Muzaffarabad fled from the carnage of 1947 and Indo-Pak wars of 1965 and 1971 to this region, he said.
