A meeting of all the political parties in Mizoram convened by the central committee of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) today unanimously agreed that 'Remna Ni' or Peace Day should be celebrated by all across the state.

'Remna Ni', which falls on June 30 is the anniversary of the signing of the historic Mizo Accord by the Centre and the erstwhile underground Mizo National Front (MNF) bringing peace to the trouble-torn Mizoram after 20 years of insurgency and bloodshed.

Representatives of the political parties suggested the day be celebrated every year and functions be organised by the central committee of the YMA to ensure participation of all political parties and the people as a whole.

Earlier, the day was usually celebrated by the MNF party alone even as the day was declared as a public holiday since 1987.
