Pol parties, trade unions mark May Day celebrations in TN

Political parties and trade unions today held rallies and public meetings to mark the May Day celebrations across Tamil Nadu.

Ruling AIADMK held rallies on the day across the state following party chief Jayalalithaa's diktat to its workers. State Ministers B Valarmathi and TKM Chinnaiah were among others who presided over the rallies organized here by AIADMK's trade union wing Anna Thozhir Sangam.

Transport Minister V Senthil Balaji MLA Pappa Sundaram led a rally at Karur while Rural Industries Minister P Mohan led another rally in Villupuram District.

Commercial Taxes Minister MC Sampath presided over the rally in Cuddalore.

Banners highlighting the welfare measures for the working classes by the ruling regime were showcased in the rallies.
 

DMK senior leader M K Stalin addressed a rally of party trade union wing functionaries at May Day Park here. He spoke on his party's achievements on the labour front.

CPI (M) MP T K Ranagarajan and CPI State Secretary Mutharasan hoisted party flags at their respective party offices.

DMDK chief Vijayakanth, presiding over the celebrations at party office here, distributed welfare aid to labourers.

MDMK chief Vaiko led the celebrations in his party office "Thayagam" and distributed sweets.

Similar rallies, public meetings and celebrations by parties and trade unions were held across Tamil Nadu on the hard won rights of labourers and the need to protect it especially in present times which is witnessing globalisation's effects.
