Ghaziabad police chief today ordered officers to keep a hawk's eye on persons who can misuse various social media sites to disturb communal harmony.

"No person found indulging in any such activity will be spared irrespective of his caste, creed, religious affiliations or political allegiance," Senior Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh said.

Singh was briefing police officials at a parade at Harsaon police lines and his orders come in the wake of tension in Shamshabad, near Agra, where violence erupted after a youth of one community posted derogatory comment against another community on a social networking site.

Keeping in view the forthcoming festive days, the SSP asked officers to be alert in their respective jurisdictions and keep eye on communal-minded persons of all communities.

District police officials today took part in riot control equipment rehearsal and learnt various measures to cope with riotous situations.
