Police arrest five Nigerians, one Indian woman in drugs case

Rachakonda Police today arrested five Nigerians and an Indian woman for allegedly indulging in drugs and human trafficking.

The sleuths of Special Operation Team on credible information in a joint operation with LB Nagar and Jawaharnagar Police stations, nabbed five Nigerians and an Indian woman who allegedly indulged in procuring and supplying drugs.

They seized 20 grams of cocaine, 12 grams of brown sugar, 39.8 grams amphetamine tablets and pieces besides ganja packets from them, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said.

Three out of the five Nigerians were staying illegally in the country as their visas had got expired, the Commissioner said.
 

Two of the Nigerians also allegedly indulged in human trafficking wherein they supplied Nigerian girls to the customers at Neredmet and Kushaiguda areas of the city, Bhagwat said.

They used to procure narcotic substances from Goa, said police.

The arrested were identified as P Sangeetha, a native of Vijayawada and Nigerians -- John Okorie, Ojukwu Cosmas, John Paul, Ogunka Henry and Okereke Cyril.

According to police, Okereke Cyril, came to India in 2014 and was nominated as president for the Nigerian nationals residing in Hyderabad.

He is studying B Com final year at a college here.

Police have seized 1.175 Kg of ganja packets from Cyril's flat, Bhagwat said.

Further probe is on.
