Suraj Khan alias Shoaib, 28, who hails from Thoubal district in Manipur, was arrested on May 24 at Nelson Mandela road here during a special drive of police to check rash late night driving by youths.
The accused was arrested after he confessed that his motorcycle was a stolen one and he has been involved in as many as eight auto theft cases here.
Five other stolen motorcycles have also been recovered at his instance, police said, adding that efforts were on arrest his accomplices, Majid Khan and Sohail.
During probe, the accused revealed that he used to dispose of stolen motorcycles in north-eastern states by transporting them through railways, police said, adding that fake documents were used in their transportation.
