The police claimed to have arrested an alleged member of a gang that had last month attacked a police patrol while trying to loot an ATM in east Delhi's Pandav Nagar area.
The police personnel from Pandav Nagar were on patrol duty on July 13 night when they spotted four persons, with faces covered, coming out with a box from an ATM kiosk, said DCP(East) Omvir Singh.
A police team led by Special Staff inspector Videsh Singhal and SHO of Pandav Nagar Navin Chandra was formed to arrest the accused who escaped after firing at the policemen, he said.

Police pinpointed some persons, suspected to be involved in the incident. They were regularly changing their hideouts to evade arrest, the officer said.
Finally, on a tip-off about one of the gang's member, Prashant Kumar (25) was arrested yesterday, he said.
He was driving a stolen car, which was also used by the gang during in the incident in Pandav Nagar, the DCP said.
During interrogation, he told police that he had come in contact with Salim and his associates, who ran a gang, while being in jail in 2016 and joined them after his release, the officer claimed.
Police also recovered 16 stolen mobile phones and stolen garments and other articles from him.
The Salim gang is involved in more than 35 cases including robbery, dacoity and murder. This gang is headed by Salim, said the officer.
