Police arrest two drug peddlers in J-K

Two alleged drug peddlers, including a resident of Uttar Pradesh, were today arrested with 400 bottles of banned Codeine Phosphate in Sopore township of north Kashmir's Baramulla district, police said.

Mohammad Javid Idreesi of Kotwali-Bijnoor in Uttar Pradesh and his local accomplice Aabid Shafi Dar were arrested from the town, 50 kms from here, a police spokesman said.

Terming the arrest of the duo as a "major breakthrough", the spokesman said they were part of a drug-peddling racket and were active in Sopore and adjoining areas.

The spokesman said 400 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from the arrested persons.
 

They were booked under NDPS act and more arrests are expected at their disclosure, the spokesman said.
