Two poachers have been arrested and two bottles of tiger fat and 56 grams of dry meat seized from their possesion in Gurugram.

Haryana police arrested Bhima and Hazari, both residents of Surat Nagar.

The tests conducted in laboratory confirmed that the mutton and fat are of the tiger, a spokesman of the State police department said here today.

He said that acting on a tip-off received from Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, the police team acted swiftly and arrested both the accused.

On interrogation, they revealed that both were engaged in hunting of animals and trade of their body parts. They said that for this purpose, they used to visit forests of Kotdwar in Uttrakhand and Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh, he said.

After hunting, they used to sell skin and bones of animals. A case under Wildlife Act was also registered against them in Gurugram in year 2008. At that time, 20 kg tiger bones, ivory and tortoise were recovered from their possession, he said.

A case under various sections of Wildlife Act has been registered against them at Gurugram police station, the spokesman added.
