With the arrest of a 40-year-old man, Delhi police today claimed to have cracked the murder of a six-year-old boy, who was found hanging at a secluded spot in south Delhi's Dhaula Kuan area.

According to the police, the boy went missing on September 15 and a case of abduction was registered at the South Campus police station. A day latter a passer-by saw the semi-nude body of the boy hanging from a tree and called up the police control room.

"It was blind murder case as his father who work as a labour refused any enmity. Eight teams were formed to crack the case," a senior police officer said.

According to the police, a detailed questioning and investigation was done with the locals as the victim went missing while he was playing with other children of the nearby slum dwellers.

"The investigating team zeroed in Chaman Lal alias Lamboo who was friendly with children of the area and used to spend a part of earning by distributing sweets and eatables among them," the officer said.

During the investigation it was found that victim was last seen with Chaman Lal at a tea shop where he purchased a piece of sweet for the boy. They were also spotted going towards Ring Road.

Police also found a minor rag-picker who was close to Chaman Lal. He told the police that on September 15 while picking empty plastic bottles near Chankayapuri Railway Station, he noticed Chaman Lal with a boy going towards ridge area.

"Rag picker followed him and saw Chaman Lal started molesting the boy who started crying. Out of fear he (rag-picker) ran away from the ridge," police said.

Rag-picker also revealed to the police that Chaman also sodomised him in the past. After series of raids Chaman Lal was arrested from a jungle near Gurudwara Nanak Pura. He used to work as daily labourer.

"During interrogation, Chaman Lal admitted him crime. He also confessed that he sodomised the rag picker. His wife deserted him after few months of his marriage due to his habit of drinking and unnatural sex. Since then, he used to spend some money on young children, preferably rag-pickers to fulfil his lust," the officer said.
