Police arrests driver of truck that killed constable

The driver of a speeding truck which allegedly hit a Delhi police constable, leading to his death, has been arrested and the vehicle was also seized, police said today.

Driver Arun Kumar Yadav (36) was arrested yesterday after Delhi police traced the registration of the truck which had hit Constable Suresh's motorcycle two days ago.

The driver had fled the accident spot with the vehicle, police said and added that they first traced the truck's owner who was found to be Ravi Kant Kausik, a resident of Vijay Nagar in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh.

When Kausik was contacted, during the investigation, he said that on the intervening night of October 29-30, his truck was being driven by Arun Kumar Yadav, a resident of Bihar.
 

Thereafter, police arrested Yadav and recovered the vehicle.

Suresh, a resident of Shalimar Garden area in Ghaziabad, was heading towards Anand Vihar ISBT on the two-wheeler when the speeding truck hit him from behind at the stretch between Ghazipur and Anand Vihar in the wee hours of October 30, police said.

He was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
