A Central Crime Station special team arrested five gamg members out of a seven-member gang allegedly involved in four burglary cases reported at KRM Colony on the intervening night of January 31 and February 1, police sources said here today.
The police recovered 473 grams of gold ornaments, 1.5 kilograms of silver jewellery, Rs 4.66 lakh in cash as well as three bikes, which would totally amount to more than Rs 25 lakh, sources said.
Addressing a press conference here today, Police Commissioner Amit Garg said that the seven-member gang of burglars broke open four houses at KRM Colony and made away with 1,209 grams of gold and 1.5 kilogram of silver ornaments, Rs 11 lakh in cash, as well as two motorcycles.

Those arrested were identified as Thota Shiva Bhavani (26) of West Godavari, Chekatala Satish (22) of West Godavari, Vamala Vinay Kumar (21) of Vizag, Bitla Keerthi Priya (25) sister of Vinay as well as Vamala Pushpa Latha (48) mother of Vinay.
However, the prime accused are Ambati Madhu (26) of Rajahmundry and Vamala Santhi Priya (22), who are still at large.
The police said that three gang members namely, A Madhu, T Shiva Bhavani and Ch Satish are hardened professional offenders with inter-state criminal records. Madhu has committed 75 offences, while Shiva Bhavani was inspired to take up crime after watching the Telugu movie 'Super' and Satish was a habitual juvenile offender. The trio were friends in the Central Prison at Rajahmundry, the police said.
During investigation, the accused confessed that they committed 23 burglaries and two motor cycle thefts in the recent past, the police said.
