Police arrests five inter-state vehicle thieves

Police today claimed to have busted two separate gangs of vehicle thieves with the arrest of five persons and recovery of eight cars, 20 motorcycles and a country made pistol.

Three members of an inter-state gang of vehicle thieves were arrested from Khadkhadi Phatak in Loni area while two others of another gang active in NCR region were arrested in Mohan Nagar area, SSP Nitin Tiwari said.

Afsar, Shahjad and Amar Singh, arrested from Loni have been involved in several cases of vehicle thefts, he said, adding that there two other members, Fahim and Mehraj managed to escape.

The gang used to sell stolen cars using fake documents in several parts of the country including Benaras, Allahabad and even in areas near Assam borders, Tiwari said.
 

Ashok Kumar and Upendra, members of another gang active in NCR region, were arrested by Sahibabad police in Mohan Nagar area and six cars, knife and country made pistol were recovered from them, Tiwari said.
