40-year-old Surender Kumar Jindal alias Subham Aggarwal and Bansi Dhar Pathak were arrested by the Delhi police near a private hospital in Noida when the money was being delivered to them.

"Jindal and Pathak conceived the idea of extorting money from the victim. They drew their inspiration from famous bollywood movie 'Welcome' and used the name "Uday Shetty of underworld" to intimidate the victim," the police said.

Two mobile phones with SIM cards, which were allegedly used by the accused to make intimidating calls to Vinay Kansal, who has the business of selling raw materials used for manufacturing of electrical switches in Rani Bagh, were recovered by the police from the possession of the accused.

According to police, Jindal, an old business acquaintance of Kansal, has hatched the conspiracy with Pathak to extort Kansal as he was under heavy debt due to his wife's ailments.

According to the complaint lodged with Rani Bagh police, from July 11 onwards Kansal started getting extortion calls from one "Uday Shetty of Underworld" with a direction that Rs 25 lakhs should be delivered to him near F Block, Sector 63, Noida on a designated date to ensure the safety of himself and his family.

After receiving the complaint, a joint team of Special Staff of North West District was constituted and and a Head Constable was assigned to be the decoy driver of the victim's car to hand over the money to the accused, as per the police.

Police claimed to have overpowered the accused Pathak, who had come on a bike to collect the money from the victim's driver, while delivering the money by the decoy driver.

Pathak later revealed that Jindal was the mastermind behind this, the police said.

An FIR was lodged on the charge of extortion and criminal intimidation against the accused under various sections of IPC.
