The police today arrested two persons here for allegedly posing as Customs officials and duping passengers by promising to get their consignments cleared from the airport, police said today.
Accused Dinesh (28) and Nazmul Arfin (32) have been arrested in connection with two cases of cheating by impersonating as Customs officials for the release of the consignments of the victims from Customs office at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport, said Sanjay Bhatia, DCP(IGI).
The IGI police received two complaints from Tejinder Pal Singh and Rajesh Kumar today alleging cheating by the accused impersonating as Customs officials and taking money from them to get seized goods cleared.

The complainants claimed that they had hired lawyers to get the matter of seized goods sorted out. Later, they received calls on their mobile phones from callers who introduced them as Customs officials offering help in the matter.
The complaints later met the accused who introduced themselves to Rajesh Kumar as Inspector RK Tawade and to Tejinder Pal Singh as Inspector Sujeet Kumar working with Customs department, said the officer.
The duo allegedly won confidence of the complainants by refusing to accept any advance money but later took Rs 10 lakh from Rajesh and Rs 5.57 Lakh from Tejinder, he said.
During interrogation, accused Dinesh disclosed that he had stolen the files of the complainants from the office of one of the advocates and contacted them on their mobile phones for cheating them, added the officer.
