The Special Cell of Delhi Police has busted a gang which allegedly used to prepare fake passports of African countries and forged Indian Visa for overstaying in India and other illegal activities with the arrest of three Nigerian nationals, police said.
Kelvin alias Eboy (28), Ibitoroko Melville (53) were arrested on March 19 following a tip off while Martins Cletus Okechukwu alias Charles (36) was nabbed on March 21 on their instance.
Police recovered 20 filled/blank passports of Ghana, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and blank and affixed forged Indian Visa stickers, seven-rubber stamps of Arrival/Departure of Immigration of Indian and Nigerian airports, stamp pads, papers, CPU, pen drive etc.
"In the second week of March, we got information that Kelvin and Melville are running a big racket of fake Indian Visa stickers and fake passports of different African countries.
"The duo was selling them to the citizens of different African countries for facilitating their illegal stay in India even after expiry of their Indian Visas," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.
On March 19, specific input was received that Melville would exchange fake passports, Visas with his associate Kelvin in Sector 13 and 3, Dwarka, Delhi. A trap was laid and both the accused persons were nabbed and large amount of incriminating material was recovered from them. Both of them were arrested under sections of IPC and Foreigners Act, police said.
"During interrogation, they disclosed that they were into this trade for a long time and were providing fake visas and passports in lieu of money to several African nationals to facilitate their stay in India even after expiry of their original Visas," said Yadav.
They allegedly also told police that they have other African associates as well whose names are Charles, Stanley and Tenten operating from Delhi/NCR and Tamil Nadu.
On March 21, Okechukwu was also arrested on their instance and two fake residential permits one in his own name while another in fake name but having his photograph on it were recovered.
During interrogation, it was learnt Okechukwu used to provide African clients to the duo and charged his commission from them as well as from clients. Efforts are on to apprehend their other associates and further investigations are on, police said.
