Police bust gang of vehicle-lifters active in Delhi-NCR

With the arrest of five persons, police today claimed to have busted a gang of vehicle lifters active in Delhi-NCR.

The arrested have been identified as Rinku, Rahul, Harish, Durgesh and Sonu, all residents of Ghaziabad and aged between 25 and 30 years.

According to police, all five accused were wanted in several vehicle theft cases and police had been looking for them for a long time.

"Police got information that some wanted vehicle lifters were coming towards Siyani Gate area near Sanjay-Geeta Crossing last night. Acting on this tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested them," a senior police officer said.
 

Five stolen motorbikes, two scooters and two knives were recovered from their possession, he added.

The accused used to steal vehicles from different parts of Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad and sell them in other cities by changing their registration plates.

"We are interrogating the arrested about the hideouts of their accomplices. Further investigation is on," he added.
