The Delhi Police's Crime Branch arrested three people and claimed to have busted a gang which used to supply illicit liquor after tampering the label of the bottle and fixing fresh label to make it look like consignment for defence canteens, police said Tusday.

One Santro car loaded with nine cartoons of illicit liquor and 612 sheets of fake labels were also seized, they added.

The accused were identified as Ravinder Singh alias Bhullar, Dharampal alias Dharmu and Pawan Kumar Gilhotra alias Pammi.

Bhullar is a notorious criminal and has been arrested earlier in cases under the Excise Act, police said.

Bhullar was arrested while he had come near Ravivar Bazaar Chowk in the Bindapur area to supply the liquor.

"Bhullar disclosed that the liquor belongs to Dharmu and Pammi, who are partners in this illicit trade. They both have a godown in the nearby area in which they used to temper the label," said Rajesh Deo, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime).

On the instance of Bhullar, Dharmu and Pummi were arrested later. They were also involved in the similar crime earlier.

A raid was conducted at the nearby godown and 612 sheets of fake labels and 57 cartoons of illicit liquor of various brands were recovered, the police added.
