Police busts gang led by Civil Engineer in Gurgaon

Four members of an alleged gang from Mewat led by a civil-engineer were arrested today with police claiming that the accused were involved in a string of robberies in areas adjacent to Delhi-Gurgaon border.

Acting on a tip off, police nabbed Afsar, Shobin, Junid and kingpin of the gang Anjum- a civil engineer, Gurgaon ACP Hawa Singh said, adding the vehicle, which they used during the crime, was seized from their possession.

All of them were history-sheeters and involved in over three dozen cases of robbery and they used to brutally assaulted the victims whom they used to loot by giving them lift on Delhi-Gurgaon expressway.
 

All the accused hailed from Mewat and were active in Gurgaon for past couple of months.

Gang members used to drive a car having no registration number and would offer lifts to passengers at Rajeev Chowk, Iffco Chowk, Manesar and other places in the late evening hours.

When passengers accepted their offers, the accused used to snatch their belongings after taking them to secluded areas. They also brutally assaulted victims for putting up resistance, the ACP said.

Anjum used to work with a city based private company, police said he was running the gang to maintain a lavish lifestyle.
