Police busts gang of carjackers in Faridabad

With the arrest of three persons, police today claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of carjackers who used to hire taxi online and take away the vehicle after overpowering the driver.

Police got a tip off that these robbers were planning to book a taxi from Faridabad, by tracking their location we cracked on them and arrested the three members of the gang, Inspector Crime Branch, Badkhal, Anil Kumar said.

Four cars, a motorcycle, a country-made pistol, a knife and an iron rod were recovered from them.

The gang was operational in many states and their modus operandi was that they used to book taxi online.
 

During travel, at an isolated place they used to overpower the driver and after throwing him out of the taxi, they used to drive away with the vehicle, police said, adding that the gang used to sell the robbed vehicle at Porbandar in Gujarat.

The police official said the four cars, all bearing registration numbers of different states, were recovered from Porbandar after gang identified them.

According to police, the mastermind of the gang is said to be one Preetpal, who owns a truck and was not able to earn enough to pay the installments of the same. Hence, he turned to crime.
