Police on Monday claimed to have busted a sex racket with the arrest of two persons in Bhojpur district, including a woman who allegedly pushed minor girls into flesh trade in collusion with her absconding brother-in-law.

Bhojpur Superintendent of Police Sushil Kumar said at the district headquarters here that Anita Devi (30), was arrested on July 19 following an FIR lodged at Town police station on behalf of a 12-year-old girl whom the accused had taken to Patna a month ago under the pretext of getting her good education and employment.

As per the FIR, the girl recently ran away from a rented house at Patna where she was lodged by Anita Devi and from where Sanjay Paswan - married to the latter's sister - used to send the 12-year-old and other girls of her age to "clients", the SP said here.

Anita Devi, a divorced woman who formerly worked as a domestic help at the residence of a local RJD MLA, and her associate Chhotu were caught hold of by the girl's brother and other family members when they came to her house to take the girl back, the SP said.

The duo was handed over to police by the complainant when he reached the police station to lodge his complaint, the SP added.

He said efforts were on to nab Paswan - who is believed to be the kingpin of the racket spread across the state and also the neighboring Uttar Pradesh.

Asked about media reports alleging the RJD legislator's involvement in the racket, the SP said no such allegation has been made so far in the FIR or the confessional statement of Anita Devi who has merely admitted to have worked at the MLA's place in the past.
