A security drill was conducted by the city police at various five-star hotels in the IT national hub here, to fine-tune security preparedness in case of a terror strike.

The drill was held at various five-star hotels including Taj Vivanta (Yeshvantpur) and Taj West End from late last night till this evening, IGP (Law and Order) Kamal Pant told PTI here.

The drill also triggered reports by local news channels last night that terrorists had sneaked into the city to carry out attacks on star hotels.

Home Minister K J George, however, refuted the reports.

"We have no intelligence from the central authorities of terrorists sneaking into the city to carry out attacks at public places. If we have any related information, we will take every possible step to face the challenge," he told reporters at an event here.

The IGP also rejected as "rumours" that a high-level meeting between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Home Minister K J George and top police officials was called to deal with the situation.

"There is no truth in it. Our top officials regularly meet the Chief Minister and the Home Minister. Nothing more should be deduced from today's meeting. It was a routine meeting," he clarified.
