Police Commissoner helps injured journalist

Delhi Police Commissoner B S Bassi today helped an injured journalist, who was hit by a speeding car near India Gate, by taking him to a hospital.

Police said that the incident took place around 11 AM this morning at Rajpath when Sujat Alam, who is journalist with a Hindi daily, was going to his office on a bike.

"When he reached near India Gate, a car, driven by a female Delhi University student, suddenly hit him. Alam fell on the road" Alam's colleague said.

He also said that the convoy of police commissioner Bassi was passing through the area.
 

"As Bassi spotted an injured man on road, he stopped his car and asked the security men in his convoy to immediately take him to a nearby hospital. Alam has suffered injuries on his stand and leg. He has got fracture in his hand," he added.

However, the condition of Alam, who is admitted to Ram Manohar Hospital, is out of danger.

"Police have detained the female driver and impounded her car. A case has been registered in this regard and further investigation is on," said a senior police officer.
