Police constable, accomplice sentenced to 10-yr jail

A special court Judge has sentenced two accused, including a serving constable of Himachal Pradesh police, to ten years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs one lakh each under NDPS Act for smuggling contraband.

Una District Attorney, N C Ghai told PTI today that on July 11 last year, police had nabbed two persons near village Charara of tehsil Bangana here, recovering one-and-a-half kg of cannabis from them.

Both the accused Narindra Kumar, a Himachal Pradesh police constable and Rakesh Kumar, hailing from village Kohlapur of district Kangra were booked under Section 20 of NDPS Act 1985, the district attorney said.
