A police constable was arrested by sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

Constable Suresh Appaji Sonawane, attached to Upnagar police station, was allegedly caught red-handed last evening while receiving the sum from the complainant to prevent his arrest as an Igatpuri court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him.

The complainant had not repaid a loan to a financial company, an ACB press release said today.

The policeman had agreed to accept the amount at Upnagarbus stand from where he was apprehended after ACB laid a trap, the release added.
